Saddles Mount White is a destination gourmet eatery, restaurant and bakehouse located just an hour north of Sydney. It’s set on 28 acres of sprawling bushland and is the perfect location for a breakfast or a coffee stop en-route to the Hunter Valley.
Established in the Hunter Valley more than 20 years ago, the original Hunter Valley Chocolate Company & Fudge Factory is one of the premier attractions in the area. This is a great place to stop and watch Peter concoct his creations in the kitchen (pending times), or sit back in the café and enjoy some chocolate-based treats. You’ll find it hard to resist walking out with a bag of goodies to take home.
The award-winning Hunter Valley Gardens is spread across 14 hectares encompassing 10 internationally themed gardens to explore. You’ll need to set aside a couple of hours to stroll around the magnificent grounds and visit the unique collection of bespoke shops located just outside the entrance to the Hunter Valley Gardens.
The Hunter Valley Cheese Factory is a purpose built cheese factory, maturation and tasting room. Cheese produced on site is handmade and preservative free. Varieties produced vary with the seasonal quality of locally sourced milk and include Brie, Washed Rind, Rinded Tommes and Fresh Cheese. There are cheese talks at 11am and 3pm daily and tastings available.
Vamp was opened in December 2019 as the home of Lisa McGuigan Wines. Lisa describes this as her ‘dream outlet’, having spent 10 years working on her brand so she could build it. Lisa built Vamp wanting it to feel like you are in her lounge room. The Vamp experience is unique compared to other wineries in the area, and you’ll be sure to find a drop from the collection that stands out and excites the palate.
Hope Estate is a family owned and operated working winery, brewery, distillery and cellar door set in spectacular grounds in the heart of Pokolbin. The Estate is also home to Australia’s largest purpose-built outdoor winery concert amphitheatre that hosts an array of legendary performers during concert season.
Tyrrell’s is as much a part of the fabric of the Hunter Valley as the Semillon and Shiraz vines they’ve been nurturing since Founder Edward Tyrrell first planted them during the mid-19th century. Tyrrell’s 160+ year history has enabled them to identify the region’s best vineyards, 11 of them more than a century old. You can also choose to have a picnic and wine tasting, with views over the Brokenback Range and a slab hut built in 1858 a wonderful accoutrement.
Audrey Wilkinson is perched atop a foot hill of the Brokenback Mountain Ranges, boasting 360- degree views from every angle and a spacious colonial style cellar door. It’s one of the most visited cellar doors in the region offering a range of tasting experiences including a ‘Twilight Tasting Experience’ and ‘Picnic among the vines’ which are ideal to add to your Hunter Valley private tour for that special occasion.
